Queenstown is relatively new cricketing venue in New Zealand that's been given international matches by blackcaps cricket in recently the the facility are yet to match the top standards. Today, we encountered a rain effected day and after several frustrating hours, umpires decided to call the match abandoned and move on in the series..
Despite gloomy weather, match looked like starting on time as toss happened when it was scheduled but 10 minutes before start of play we had drizzle come back to the venue after losing nearly an hour for wet outfield conditions, umpires had to reduce the match to 48 overs per side.
Pakistan openers came out and young Ahmed Shahzad took the center stage, cracking four fours and a six in his 16 ball stay, severly punishing James Franklin, collecting 25 runs and pushing visitors to 31 runs from only 4.2 overs when rain came back to haunt this game and umpires had to call the match abandoned.
Series no moves to Christchuch at AMI stadium in a day-night match on 29th January.
