Not every day you have a tournament as big as 2006 ICC Champions trophy and that is why, although I like writing long articles, I have decided to keep track of all the latest and important news during this 36 days cricket festival in my country...

Here I have for you all of "who said what" on ICC Champions trophy in in reverse order by date, with one top story from each day (updated as and when the news comes in).

6th October.

  • Younis Khan refuses captainship for Champions trophy.
He said he doesn't want to be a dummy captain and is ready to play for the country as a member of the cricket team. But won't take the captainship for just 3 or 4 ODI, that too in India - the toughest place for Pakistan team to play. In every manner.

This has happened when Inzamam is not available to participate in champions trophy due to his ban for 4 ODI's. Here's more to it.

  • Dan Cullen included in place of Stuart Clark.
Australian team were relying in their pace bowlers when they planned for their 5th try to win ICC Champions trophy, but suffered when Stuart Clark pull off due to an injury. Australia has only one spinner - Brad Hogg in the Champions trophy squad but now have included this promising off-spinner. Who is known for his well disguised "doosra's".

1st October :

  • Sleeping giants will pose the real threat : Brain Lara.
"Although Australia have never won this tournament, they have to be tagged as favourites on "face value". Having said that, we are the sleeping giants and can out play the best in the World on our day. The first target is to reserve one of two places from the qualifying games, which starts from 7th of October"

  • We have learnt from our mistakes : Jayawardene.
"The least time we came here, we faced initial difficulties in following the new rules of Power plays and super subs, which gave so much importance to the toss. But I think we have improved since then"....

Joining in his captain, the Sri Lankan coach Tom Moody said - "We are not the same team that visited India last time. We are now a better, stronger unit. The focus is now on Qualifying round which will give our players the chance to adjust to the cDopingTestInChampionsTrophy.gifonditions".

  • Doping test for cricketers : ICC. *DAY'S TOP STORY*
Two players from each ten team participating in October 2006 Champions trophy will be subjected to doping test. The players will be selected randomly and there is no fixed date about when those samples will be taken from which player. This will be the first time that "doping test" will be done in a Cricket tournament, even though it was done during the last 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa - as a result of which Australian Leg spinner Shane Warne missed the World Cup.

Even it is not certain that every cricketer will go through this doping test, Indian board has made it clear that they will subject every Indian cricketer for the test themselves and have informed the Indian cricketers in advance.
