Australia innings : started well with Shane Watson and David Warner shedding off their conservative approach of last game and attacking the new ball but England, once again, found initial break throughs to seize the initiative, reducing home team to 5 wkts for 80 runs at the 12th over mark. Spinners Swann and Yardy bowled their 8 overs for just 38 runs and took couple of wickets each. Aaron Finch and Steven Smith then added a half century stand off just 39 balls to salvage some pride for Australia. Finch finished unbeaten on his maiden half century in his second only T20 match for his country.

England chase : began very well with Ian Bell and Steven Davies adding 60 runs from first 7 overs but Mitchell Johnson's two wickets in 8th over pegged visitors back and their second team fifty took 57 balls to come which increased asking runrate little too much. Chris Woakes hit a six off 3rd last ball to keep England in game but Tim Bresnan couldn't hit another off last ball to win the match.

This was first T20 win for Australia after 5 consecutive defeats!
