Did Pakistan really wake up? not quite..Invited in to bat first in this tour beginner, Pakistan came out with surprize opening pair of Mohammad Hafeez and captain Afridi himself and together, 37 runs came from only 4 overs and even young Ahmad Shehzad hit couple of fours and a six from first 5 balls be faced but then, visitors lost their way. Tim Southee claimed 4 wickets in his second over including a hattrick to reduce green team to 8 down for just 110 on board and then 9 down for 112 but Wahab Riaz's lucty hitting towards the end gave them an over 7 run per over target to defend. Debutant Adam Milne bowled well without any success, touching 140kmph regularly and even clocking 148kmph once while other debutant, umpire Barry Frost, gave away two poor decisions against visiting team. Martin Guptill began Kiwi chase on a high note but experienced Shoaib Akhtar ate up 3 wickets quickly to keep his team in the match. Captain Ross Taylor arrived and aded 36 with Guptill to set the platform for the chase and then himself hit 3 sixes to finish the match with wicket keeper Peter McGlashan. New Zealand & Pakistan play two more T20 matches before 2 test series.
