Rain eats up possible warm-up win for England over South Australia.

Tag Ashes 2010-11

Alastair Cook finally finds form. Having beaten Western Australia in 1st warm-up game, England were posied to win their second practice game of the tour running but rain ate up whole of final session on last day to save state side South Australia from a defeat..

Electing to bat first, England's main aim in this match was to give their batsmen some real time in the middle, specially struggling vice-captain Alastair Cook who did negotiate 91 deliveries but couldn't find the real form. Jonathan Trott too failed to notch up a morale boosting score but experienced duo of Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood added quickfire 32 off 4.5 balls to sharpen themselves. Paul Collingwood continued on to a confident ninety while Ian Bell scored a half century. Graeme Swann cracked 25 off just 23 balls and England declared their 1st innings 11 overs before end of day 1 at his dismissal.

Host team lost both openers on same score but captain Michael Klinger, young Callum Ferguson and Adian Blizzard batted well without anyone going past a fifty. South Australia were allout 67 runs short.

Graeme Swann cleaned up the tail, showing he's adapting to aussie bouncy pitches well.

England pushed for some quick runs on last day, setint an out of range target of 308 for hosts and pushed for second straight side game win on this high profile tour but clouds were already hovering over Adelaide Oval. Opener Alastair Cook spent quality time in the middle and with in-form captain Andrew Strauss who scored his second century of the tour, Cook made sure he didn't threw away the opportunity as he reached a confident century before visitors declared their second innings.

James Anderson seems to have found his rhythm as he added 2 more wickets to go with 3 in the first innings before rain spoiled whole of final session. All in all, another solid performance by England with a dozen of days to goo before the first Ashes test at Brisbane.
