(Darrell) Hair comes the trouble.

January 1992,
Adelaide Oval -

This was Darrell Hair's first ever test match and he gave no less than 8 controversial LBW decisions against DarrellHair.jpgIndian team and rejected two of their appeals... And guess what, India lost the test match by just 38 runs..!!

December 1995,
Melbourne -

This probably was the one of the darkest chapter in International cricket when Darrell Hair no-balled Muthiah Muralitharan as many as 7 times in the span of 3 overs. Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga took his team off the ground and returned only when he decided to bowl Murali from other other end - where Umpire Steve Dunne was officiating and he never called No-ball.

December 1998,
International matter -

Darrell Hair threatened to sure the President of Sri Lanka cricket board for accusing him of bias..!!

Year 1999,
International matter -

The best way to get fame is by getting into controversies. Having loads of them on his broad shoulders, Darrell Hair came up with his autobiography book where he termed Muthiah Muralitharan's bowling action as "diabolical". He became the first and only umpire in Cricket's history to be cited under ICC's International Code Of Conduct, only to be set free... god knows WHY??

Year 1999,
Tri series -

Darrell Hair was forced to step down as umpire from officiating in the tri-nation series involving England, Australia and Sri Lanka as Sri Lanka rejected to participate in the series if Hair was one of the umpire.

Year 1999,
India vs England series -

In his usual self, Darrell hair continued to rule in favour of England and was involved in slanging with then India coach Kapil Dev over his biased decision making.

September 2000,
Bulawayo test -

Darrell Hair called Zimbabwe bowled Grant Flower as chucker and no balled him three times in an over in that test match against New Zealand.

August 2005,
Oval test match -
HairNoBallsMurali.jpg
Hair penalised Pakistan for Tampering with the ball when there were absolutely no evidence from 26 camera's on the field to suggest that when and how Pakistani fielders managed to change the condition of the ball. It must be noted that it was England's Coach Duncan Fletcher who went to ICC match referee Mike Procter and talked about the possibility to Pakistan players tampering with the ball....now how and when did Duncan Fletcher got this idea..(here's full story).

Let me tell you another important fact that even when Darrell is an Australian, he has been living in England for a number of years. So can he be called as a neutral umpire and is he suitable to officiate in a cricket match between England and Pakistan. Doesn't the rule say that an International test match should have two neutral umpires..??

This is some of Darrell Hair's remarks in his "report card" which is COMPLETELY BLACK over the year in his stint as an International umpire for 76 test matches and 124 ODIs. It must be noted that he is the first and only umpire to tell ICC that he is not willing to officiate in any cricket match which will be played in Zimbabwe and you know what, Darrell Hair was removed from ICC umpires panel in 2002. But this decision was changed and Hair joined back in 2003 when ICC expanded their number of umpires after the decision that each International test match will have two neutral umpires in place of one home and one International.

When there is absolutely no fixed rule to decide whether a bowler is having an illegal bowling action, Darrell Hair has been involved in calling two International bowlers as chuckers and has been behind many other like Harbhajan Singh and Shabbir Ahmad.

Darrell never ever thought of telling Pakistani captain Injamam why he was changing the ball. He even refused to show him the ball which was accusing him with one of the biggest blame a captain can ever recieve. Darrell Hair is a man who believes he owes no explanation to anyone, and can do whatever he feel like doing..!!

It's simply a case of ICC's inability to find good umpires Internationally that Darrell Hair is back into the elite panel after being dumped in 2002. And now when ICC has recruited him back, and when this "biased man" is still doing all the wrong things against "specific teams", they are still backing him as if Darrell owns ICC. ICC doesn't want the blame to come back on them that they made the wrong decision in taking him back..

I don't know what will happen to Injamam. May be he should be penalised, not because showing his intention's on bad and biased umpiring, but in the manner which he did. I, a die hard cricket fan will be fine with Injamam facing charges of any number of test matches or ODI, but Darrell Hair should go now...

For the sake of cricket and for the sub-continent which, don't forget, virtually runs the game called cricket..!!
