For over 125 years of International cricket, and 35 years of one day cricket, Cricket officials have been very smart in selling their sponsorships and making more and more money, but they have always failed to find a solution to the biggest threat to cricket - RAIN.

And it's not like the solution is not there... Telstra Dome in Melbourne Australia have shown the way by making the first indoor cricket stadium, where the top can be completely closed and no rain can be allowed to spoil a cricket match. BCCI is the richest sporting body in the World so can't they make something like Telstra Dome (also called as Colonial stadium) in India...??

Anyways, right now the Tri Series is being played in Sri Lanka, where weather has been a problem for ever. Today, on 14th of August, Sri Lanka vs South Africa ODI was scheduled at Colombo and apart from a Bomb Blast, rain god spoiled it. So let me include some important factors for this Sri Lanka Tri Series for remaining of matches - Specially featuring India.

The Weather Report for Sri Lanka Tri Series :-

NOT GOOD... All the coming five days, i.e, Tuesday, Wednesday (India vs Sri Lanka Match), Thursday, Friday (India vs South Africa match) and Saturday have prediction of rain or at least Thunder showers which may cause plenty of problems. What is our only hope to watch some cricket is that all the matches are scheduled to be Day/Night which means that umpires can wait for little longer in case rain stops.

The Alternatives :-

Well, each match in this Sri Lanka tri series involving India and South Africa has been given a reserve day. Which means that if a match is not played on its scheduled day, it can be played the next day... of course if rain god stays away.

The good thing about Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo is that they have a very good dranning system. So when the rain stops, it will take the ground staff to make the ground playable in just 3 hours or so. A minor ray of hope I believe..!!

The Bomb Blast near Indian team's hotel :-

Approximately 1530hrs India time, a bomb exploded in Colombo which was targeted at Pakistani Delegation but the problem was that the location of Bomb Blast was very near to where India cricket team is staying - At Hotel Taj Samudra in Colombo, just 3 kms away. All the three coaches and managers have met Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Cricket Duleep Mendis and discussed the issue. And as of now, the Sri Lanka Tri Series has been said to be played according to the schedule.

Even BCCI officials were contacted and they said "Bomb Blasts in Sri Lanka is nothing new. It has been happening for last 12 years but the relaxing thing is the LTTE never target the cricket matches or the cricketers". Indian goverment also made contact with Sri Lankan goverment and has three demands..
(a) Indian cricket team's travel timing should be kept secret.
(b) They should get an armed escort and.
(c) Indian team must travel by BULLET-PROOF BUS.

Well, this time they are right because as I said, that Bomb at Liberty Plaza Cinema in Sri Lanka was targeted at Pakistani Delegation according to Sri Lanka police, who, ultimately escaped.

So, what's the future of this Sri Lanka tri series.

Frankly, it seems obvious that all the first three league matches might be rained off because of really bad weather report for Colombo. Which will mean that the tri series which had each three teams playing each other twice before the finals, might get to play each other just once later in next week and then the finals be decided.

Lets cross our fingers and hope that above weather predictions are wrong.
