Buy tickets for ICC Champions trophy in India, October 2006.

Somebody said - "You can find anything on Internet".

And after playing the role of a cricket blogger for over 8 months, I believed in it. I thought I knew places to find any information related to Cricket, and then I started to find tickets for upcoming ICC Champions trophy in October 2006 in India. TheChampionsTrophy.jpg

I was amazed by the number of websites who offered tickets for cricket matches to be played in UK or Australia, or the coming World Cup in 2007, but none of them offered tickets for 2006 Champions trophy...I asked why??

Because it's a tournament of big magnitude but at a wrong time, or because it is scheduled in India. Frankly, I am fine with rumours that some countries are planning to save their cricketers for some other "tradition series" just after Champions trophy, but I am not fine with the reason that 2006 Champions trophy tickets are not available to everyone World wide because it will be played in my country.

And that is why I worked lot harder for this article than I do for other one's on "Its only cricket". Read on if you really wish buy tickets for ICC Champions trophy in the month of October 2006..

Method 1.

Find someone in India, or preferably in Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahemdabad and Mohali in Chandigarh because those are the cities where Champions trophy matches will be played and that is where the actual selling to tickets will take place. BCCI or state cricket associations in India open ticket counters about 10-15 or around 30 days before the match day and interested people have to Que up to buy their tickets.

But how can you be sure of when the selling of tickets will start at those counters :-

Well, following are some phone numbers and email addresses of related officials where you can find exact dates and process to buy your specific ticket.

For 2006 Champions trophy matches in Mumbai.
(Group stage matches and The Final)

Mumbai cricket association - Mumbai.
email - mcacrik@vsnl.comChampionsTrophyInIndia.jpg
Phone: (+91-22) 22811795, 22817876 and 22819910.

For 2006 Champions trophy matches in Mohali.
(Group stage matches and 1st Semi-final)

Punjab cricket association - Mohali.
Phone: (+91-172) 2232300 to 2232302.

For 2006 Champions trophy matches in Jaipur.
(Group stage matches and 2nd Semi-final)
Rajasthan Cricket Association - Jaipur.
email - rca@cricinfo.com
Phone : (+91-141) 2222220/21/22.

For 2006 Champions trophy matches in Ahmedabad.
(Group stage matches)

Gujarat Cricket Association - Ahmedabad.
Phone: (+91-079) 26443787 and 26565391.

I have included few more options as following, but honestly, this is the surest method to buy tickets for cricket matches in India. And the toughest method as well.

Method 2.

I am sure the above phone numbers and email address can help those who can be present personally. But for International cricket fans, I suggest calling on those numbers and ask those people how can you buy your tickets while staying at your current location. As ICC Champions trophy is a tournament of a very big magnitude, Cricket officials must have made some plans to sell tickets... its just that they are talking too long in revealing those plans.

Meanwhile, I have also found some contact mode of people in ICC who managed the ticket selling to English people when England team came here in India few months ago. I am sure they will know more than what I do...

A. Mr. Brendan McClements - General Manager, Corporate Affairs. Mobile : +44 (0) 7786 194974.
B. Mr. Jon Long - Project Officer, Corporate Affairs. Tel : 44 (0) 20 7266 7912. Mobile : +44 (0) 7946 545090.

Method 3.

What is the best and only method on Internet to find any information... yes, the search engines. Mostly Google. So I am sure you also know about Google advertising in which you see ads on smaller websites and blogs, just like mine.

So when you search a particular information on Google, it gives to links to several websites and when you visit those websites, you see advertising on it. Those advertising's are derived according to the "keywords" that you entered while searching, so it can be said that those advertising's do have what you are looking for.

For example, you must have searched " Buy + Tickets for ICC Champions trophy in India" and now you are on my blog. So the ads that you can see on this page right now might well be selling those tickets. This is how their business work.

And this is how I got this website called GlobalTicketService.com who are selling those Champions trophy tickets online. This is a website where you can not online buy your tickets, but also sell them if your plan to visit India somehow changes.

I also found this website called EuroTeam who are a major online place to by tickets for cricket matches on the Internet. But as of now, they are not offering tickets for the Champions trophy in October. May be later on they will..

I'll be adding more methods as the Dates for Champions trophy comes closer, but I hope at least one of the present above methods will be able to help you buy those tickets...

Method 4.
(updated on 28th August)

So many people wanted tickets for ICC champions trophy but I thought I was the only one in the host country - India who cared about how to buy those precious tickets... And I wrote this article on 9th. But, now after 17 long days, a comment to this article has come from a man who is the VICE PRESIDENT OF BCCI - Mr. Lalit Modi and he finally has something very staight for cricket fans on how to buy tickets for Champions trophy --

BCCI.tv will be selling the tickets for which you have to download a form for each four venues, fill them and wait for your tickets. Lalit Modi has also written (see the comments section) that you can contact Mr. Pius Das at the email - pdias@modi.com, who is the incharge of sales of tickets for ICC Champions Trophy in October, if you have any other query.

I guess our problem is nearly solved now.

Note :-

The tickets for the matches in the ICC Champions Trophy will be printed with a prominent landmark of each of the four hosting cities. So if its Mumbai then Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) Railway Station, or the Rajabhai Tower will appear at the back of the tickets. For Ahmedabad, Mahatama Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram and Akshardham Temple are the landmarks while. Similarly Chandigarh's famous Rock Garden and Jaipur's forts will be displayed.

See you at the stadium...!!
