Tensports launches 'Ten cricket' to overcome Zeesports problems.Tag
Indian cricket
Tensports was launched in India independently by Middle east based Taj TV but soon, Zeesports reserved major stakes in the sports channel. Why? for a very good reason that they were boycotted by Indian cricket board (BCCI) for starting rebel Indian Cricket league (ICL). Zeesports ventured into other sports but couldn't lure cricket savy Indians and hence expenditure on Tensports was justified, for whatever little live cricket they got to show (whenever Tensports were engaged in other live matches)..What did Tensports do with the money they got from deals with Zee? they bought official broadcasters rights for all cricket played in South Africa and Sri Lanka under host board to add with their existing cricket boards of Pakistan, West Indies, UAE and Zimbabwe. Silently, Tensports became the single largest live cricket channel in India but still, there were few takers for partners Zeesports who couldn't even penetrate into major DTH services and other prominant cable television across India. Now, change in plans ~ 'Ten cricket' launched. An all cricket channel in sync with Star Cricket of ESPN-Star and Neo cricket of Nimbus communications, Tencricket will show non-stop cricket in India 24 hours. Ten cricket doesn't have tag mark of Zeesports which corporates hated, and hence may break into Indian homes. Tensports also holds broadcasting right for US open tennis and Champions league (soccer) for Indian territory and hence presense of Ten cricket will enable them continue un-intruppted coverage of both the events simultaneously. In next 4 months remaining this year, Ten cricket debuts with triseries in Sri Lanka involving India and New Zealand in August 2010 and then will be showing India in South Africa, Pakistan vs South Africa in Dubai/Abu Dhabi and West Indies tour of Sri Lanka. With Ten cricket, ten sports can also think of providing viewers commentary in regional languages as well as bring highlights more frequently. Related Articles |
