Ind-Aus-WI Tri series in Malaysia and Singapore.
There has never been a World Cup of Test match cricket, even when so
many bloggers have tried to make a "perfect schedule" for it...
![]() But if somehow that happens, we all know that Australia will start as favourites. And even when we talk about World Cup of One day matches, Australia seems the obvious winner. Isn't it?? But somehow, Australia is a team who have never won the cricket tournament called as Champions trophy (previously as Knock-Out tournament) over a period of three attempts. The history of Champions trophy, where teams have to keep wining in order to stay in the tournament, suggests that Australia have never even reached the Semi-Final of this tournament, where all top cricket playing nations participate. Well, the fourth Champions trophy is scheduled to be played in India in October and Australian cricketers has been cooling their heels for months now. And that is why, Australian cricket board has decided to give their players a chance to get match practice before this Champions trophy by playing a three nation tri-series in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Singapore along with India and West Indies...... seems like they are determined to change the past this time. This Tri series in Malaysia-Singapore will be played from 12th of September to 24th of September, where each team plays others twice and finally , the top two
playing the finals. This means that there will be two India vs
Australia, two India vs West Indies and two Australia vs West Indies
One day Internationals, apart from the final. The remote cricket grounds of Singapore - "Kallang ground" and "The Padang" will host first three ODI's of this India-Australia-West Indies tri series in September, and then the last four ODI's will be played at "Kinrara Oval" at Puchong in Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia. Two interesting thing about this tri series 1.All of the one dayers will be played as Day/Night. This means that the timing of the matches will be something like 1600hrs India time when in Malaysia and an hour later when in Singapore. 2. This all started with a commitment of BCCI to play some one day internationals in USA but later on they found out that none of cricket grounds in US has got the approval of ICC. This reason was enough to scrap that prospect. Then, West Indies were supposed to play 5 ODI's with India at Toronto Canada but at that time, the problems between their cricket board and cricketers were not sorted out. The reason was Players wanted bigger salary slips while West Indies cricket board was alr eady broke while
preparing for the upcoming World Cup in March 2007...Well, ultimately,
the cricketers have understood that West Indies board needs more money,
so they have to do overtime...THUS THIS INDIA-AUSTRALIA-WEST INDIES
SERIES.Now from a cricket viewer's perspective, its a good news. A tri-series with Australia as third team sounds lot better prospect than 5 ODI's against West Indies. So let me remind you that all these one day matches will be live on Zeesports in India. It was decided on 6th of April this year, when Zeesports won the telecast rights of 25 special cricket matches involving India, around the world at neutral venues. This Tri Series is another result of that deal that BCCI made with ZeeSports... Here's the schedule. And for Live telecast, match timing, tickets and much more - try this. Related Articles |
