Not Sourav nor Ganguly in Indian team for Sri Lanka Tri Series.October 2005. Indian team comes back from Zimbabwe and problems between Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and new coach Greg Chappell confuses our nation. And then it became clear that Greg Chappell didn't wanted Ganguly into Indian team, Kiran More joined him and suddenly Rahul Dravid started to perform brilliantly as new Indian captain and also as a batsman.
Result - A new look Indian team was formed which contained at least 8 different faces. More importantly, young f  aces. The point I am
trying to make here is you watch "

gold medal, and did it with a team which was compiled with lots and
lots of new faces..Not only that, you watch " Coach Carter", another true story based movie where the new basket ball coach throws away the best player of a team, who were not ready to listen to him. He adds new talents and produces a result where his team reaches the final of the championship without losing a single match. I can name you few more real incidences like that, but the point will remain the same - a country which breaths cricket, surely have at least 10 more International team within itself... all you need is to provide the youngsters an opportunity. This is what Greg Chappell, Kiran More and Rahul Dravid might have decided upon when they started their mission of creating a new Indian cricket team. Troubles came, failures mounted and criticism were logged. But Indian team is away with confident young faces now and are motivated to do the unthinkable.. and as you read the following Indian squad for the Tri Series in Sri Lanka in a month, which starts on 14th of August. 01) Rahul Dravid (Captain), 02) Sachin Tendulkar, 03) Virendra Sehwag, 04) Yuvraj Singh, 05) Mohammad Kaif, 06) Dinesh Mongia, 07) Suresh Raina, 08) Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Wk), 09) Irfan Pathan, 10) Ajit Agarkar, 11) Ramesh Powar, 12) Harbhajan Singh, 13) S Sreesanth, 14) Munaf Patel, 15) R P Singh. Questions you may ask on this team :- Why Dinesh Mongia again?? Well, I don't know. And may be Kiran More doesn't know as well. He did mentioned in the press conference that the selectors discussed India A names like S Badrinath (Subramaniam Badrinath), Ravi Jadeja and Rohit sharma but in the end decided to give Dinesh Mongia another chance for his good consistent showing in English County cricket. Kiran More repeated at least three times that Mongia is selected for his all rounders ability, but personally, I feel he is a "flat footed bulky" cricketer who can surely bat, but can't be that swift mover on the field........Having said this, I am ready to be proved wrong.  Why R P Singh again?? Didn't you read what I said at the starting of this article.... when you start a new team with new faces, you fall in love with those new players and that is why they are given more opportunities than usual. This is what happened for Mohammad Kaif and Virendra Sehwag when they failed a few times and that is what Sourav Ganguly missed out. Where are Zaheer Khan and Laxmipathi Balaji?? "They were discussed" said Kiran More but Balaji is still not fit. Zaheer is doing well but is a tested player. He may be recalled later but right now, lets give a chance to a different face and have a try..what More didn't said here was Zaheer's inability to break down when a very important match looms over his head. Remember the 2003 World Cup final..!! Why not Anil Kumble?? Same reason. He is tested and team needs to try other players. although Anil Kumble is a certainty for the World Cup berth, right now he should not be given the troubles... Did I miss any potential question??
