The Preview of India vs West Indies, 3rd test match at St. Kitts.I bet.... Sunny (nick name of Sunil Gawaskar) will make more runs
alone than what West Indies openers - Gorden Greenidge and Desmond Haynes will
make together..!!
The day was 11th of March, the year was 1983 and the better was an English man. His
relations with India is not yet known but above is
the bet that he openly
announced at the Queen's Park Oval cricket ground in Trinidad when that 2nd test
match between India and West Indies started. This was the third time Sunil
Gawaskar was playing in West Indies, and his debut tour of West Indies in 1971
had won him many a fans... That English man was most probably one of
them..So the story went like this... India batted first... and I am sorry to tell
you this but Gawaskar was out for just 1 run. That English man, who was running
all around the Queen's Park Oval till that dismissal - paid all his bets and
left the ground in no more than half and hour later...
Later the next day.. the scorecard read -
Gorden Greenidge 0 bowled Sandhu...and
Desmond Haynes 0 Caught Kirmani bowled Sandhu.
That English man returned later on Day 2 to get his money...but of course,
none of the better was there anymore.
That test match was eventually a draw one, but another fact that remains is
that India have won just three test matches in West Indies.. and all of them
have come at that particular ground only - The Queen's Park Oval, Port
of Spain in Trinidad. So why did I tell you that TRUE STORY...
Well, just to make this article interesting. And also because I don't
really have many stories to attach with the 3rd test match between India and
West Indies which starts on 22nd of June 2006, which is Thursday. This will be
the first ever test match that will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre in St.
Kitts Islands. India played their 3rd ODI at this ground and that is the
only International cricket match that has been ever played at St. Kitts.
Team India, after playing some very good cricket in last 7 days of this
current test series in West Indies have failed to manage a win and still Queen's
Park Oval is the only ground in West Indies where they have managed a test
victory. It didn't happened in First
test at Antigua, didn't happened in Second
test at St. Lucia ... so will it happen at St. Kitts.. that remains to be
seen..
The Weather
forecast for this 3rd test match is not really good as I write this article,
but we all know how much we can trust
the weather man, specially when it comes
on Weather reporting on the Internet. As far as the pitch at St. Kitts is
concerned, well, we saw the maximum runs scored in the ODI series - 248 at this
ground and spinner did had fair bit of say in that match. So when we can expect
a lot, we better be prepared for something worse..The time (of Live telecast) at which this 3rd India vs West Indies match at
St. Kitts starts will be the same as it has been in most of the series -
1930hrs India timing, but let me remind you that the 4th test match, which is
scheduled at Jamaica, will be starting an hour later - at 2030hrs India
time.
And lastly, as there is very less chance that you will be able to catch the
whole match, let me give you the highlights timing of all the days on Tensports
of this 3rd test match..
23rd June (Friday) - Day 1 highlights - at 0930hrs and at
1500hrs.
24th June (Saturday) - Day 2 highlights - at 0900hrs only.
25th June (Sunday) - Day 3 highlights - at 0830hrs and at 1500hrs.
26th June (Monday) - Day 4 highlights - at 0830hrs and at 1400hrs.
27th June (Tuesday) - Day 5 highlights - at 0930hrs and at 1500hrs.
Highlights of Day 5 will be repeated by Tensports at 0930hrs on 28th of
June (thats Wednesday) and that will be it...!! Related ArticlesCricket
