The record of invincibility in Twenty20 matches now belongs to Australia who broke Pakistan's record of 8 games unbeaten consecutively, back in September 2007.
Australia, the country that holds consecutive win record in tests and onedayers as well, achieved there 12 undefeated t20 run during World T20 2010 before they were beaten by England in final of that Caribbean tournament.
The point to notice in Pakistan's unbeaten run back in 2007 was that it continued through the inagural world t20 tournament in which Pakistan made it to finals, undefeated. It started with Quadrangular series in Kenya where Pakistan beat Bangladesh and Kenya after being defeated by Sri Lankans and then into the big tournament, boys in green defeated scotland and then escaped with a tie against India (which arch rivals claimed through bowl-out) and then defeated Sri Lanka, Australia, Bangladesh and then New Zealand in semifinals before losing to India in the final.
In fact, Pakistan still have the best win-loss percentage among all teams who have played considerable number of Twenty20 games.. that said, Aussies are fast catching up.
7 games undefeated on the trott has been achieved by three different teams till date, as you can see in the following table. South Africans did it in year 2009 which they started with twin wins at home against Aussies and went undefeated through to World T20 tournament untill the semifinals in which Sri Lankans defeated them.
7 T20 games undefeated has also been done by Pakistan recently, which started in World T20 2009 tournament in England through to winning the cup and then beating Sri Lankans in their on backyard and then twin wins against New Zealand in Dubai.
England came close by not losing any of their 9 T20 games, starting with a rained abandoned against Ireland on 4 May 2010.
Note : two other teams have remaining undefeated for 6 consecutive games but they've to do more to enter following elite list of invincibility which includes only those teams who stayed loss-less for 7 or more games.
