Ireland aren't among the top 10 cricket teams in the world but that's mostly because English neighbours are utterly new at the highest level and if given regular opportunities, certainly have the ability to perform better than quite a few teams, specially due to their solid stratigics they always seem to execute well with an experienced lot of cricketers the team is built around.

Ireland squad for T20 world cup 2010 will be captained by Will Porterfield who, along with Andre Botha, Trent Johnston, John Mooney, Alex Cusack, Andrew White, O'Brien brothers and Boyd Rankin who were part of 2007 World cup in Caribbean where Ireland beat Pakistan and surprized everyone by making it upto super 8s stage. William Porterfield

left handed opening batsman and captain. Will is not your attacking top order batter but likes to plot the platform for his other mates to bat around him. Porterfield is also good in marshalling his troops when in field.

Niall O'Brien

the wicket keeper and easily the best batsman in Ireland squad. Left handed Niall has played plenty of cricket in English county circuit as well as in Indian cricket league (ICL) and represented Ireland in all formats and surely knows his craft with bat despite donning the gloves.

Trent Johnston

The 36 year old Australian born is Ireland's best allrounder who can hit big lower down the order as well as bowl very tight line at the toughest situations. Johnston is former Ireland captain but now plays the role of mentor.

Kevin O'Brien

the bulkiest cricketer in Ireland squad, the brother of Niall, and mighty effective right handed batsman ideally suited to twenty20 cricket. Kevin has represented Ireland in ICC's associate and International tournaments for over 5 years now.

Paul Stirling

is one of most impressive Ireland young batsman who has taken England domestic cricket by strom and is now ready for International arena as well. Paul bats right handed and can hit it long and with class.

Andre Botha

34 year old left handed batsman who also bowls right arm medium pace. Botha is a South African born cricketer and has played 35 ODIs and 12 T20 games for Ireland so far.

Andrew White

30 year old hear hitting allrounder has played 32 one day internationals and 12 T20 games for Ireland so far but his batting has detoriated since his debut against Holland 6 years ago. White bowls offspin and bats right handed.

Gary Wilson

is reserve wicket keeper in the ireland squad for a long time now, and has played only 16 ODI and 13 T20 games despite making his debut 4 years ago. Wilson is only 24 year old and bats right handed and is ready whenever Niall O'Brien needs a break.

John Mooney

is an allrounder who bats left handed and bowls right arm medium pace. Mooney is 28 year old, making his International debut back in 2006 but since then took a break to complete his studies. Now, Mooney is full time cricketer with experienced of 13 ODI and 11 T20.

Peter Connell

is a 28 year old right arm medium pacer and a mighty accurate at that. Connell made his debut late in 2008 but since then, with retirement of David Longford Smith, has become their premier new ball bowler.

Alex Cusack is another Australian born 29 year old allrounder who migrated to Ireland back in 2005 and now has represented his adopted country in 20 ODI and 14 T20 games. Alex bowls useful medium pace and bats right handed.

Boyd Rankin

is most experienced fast bowler in Ireland T20 world cup squad, having played 20 ODI and 4 T20 games. 25 year old Boyd is is 6 feet 7 inches tall and he uses his height to good effect and has played for English counties Derbyshire and Warwickshire.

Gary Kidd

is one of newer generation of Ireland cricketers, is only 24 year old and bats left handed and bowls left arm orthodox. Kidd has played only 6 ODI and 1 T20 game (all against other minnow teams) and World T20 2010 will be his first major experience.

George Dockrell

is less than 18 year old and has represented Ireland in under-13 and under-15 teams. Dockrell is a left arm spinner who has already played 5 T20 games and taken 9 wickets including a 6 for 19 runs against Hong Kong. George bats right handed.

Nigel Jones

is a New Zealand born 28 year right arm medium pacer who also bats well lower down the order.
