End of day 1 : SA 291/2 : after Zaheer Khan had removed both openers at only 6 runs on board. Jacques Kallis, with his 34th test century and Hashim Amla, with his 8th test century, notched up 285 run = the biggest partnership in India v South Africa test match, and remained unbeaten.

End of day 2 : India 25/0 : after Indians declared their first innings just 15 minutes before the close of play. Earlier, Hashim Amla scored his maiden double century, now the highest score by a South African batsman in subcontinent, let lone in India. Amla also bettered his previous best first class score of 249, pushing his team to a huge total.

End of day 3 : India 66/2 : following on, after Dale Steyn's inswinging deliveries rattled them apart in first innings with a 7 wicket haul, his career's best performance and the 2nd best innings bowling in India v SA test matches. India, in second innings, lost both openers but Tendulkar and Murali Vijay saw then upto the stumps.

End of match : South Africans bowled Indians twice in two days, despite a fighting century from Sachin Tendulkar and useful contributions by tailenders. Dale steyn registered his career's 4th and first 10 wicket haul by a South African bowler on Indian soil.
