Best bowling in an India v South Africa test match belongs to Allan Donald while Lance Klusner holds the innings record for his 8 wkt haul..12 wickets for 139 runs from 55 overs, Allan Donald ravaged Indian batting in the 3rd test of that first ever tour India went to South Africa back in year 1992. First two tests were draws which had made home team hungry, and they prepared a pitch for their fast bowlers, which also included left armer Bret Schultz, Craig Mathews and Brain McMillan but Donald, who nearly played for England had South Africans were not given a reentry into test cricket, was on fire, eating up 5 Indians in on first morning and then 7 for 84 in second innings. Kapil Dev played a lone hand against Donald that day, punching 129 from 180 balls but Indians went on to lose the game by 9 wkts. Donald dismissed WV Raman, Mohammad Azharuddin and Wicket keeper Kiran More twice while Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Praveen Amre, Kiran More, Sanjay Manjrekar, Kapil Dev, Manoj Prabhakar and Anil Kumble were his prey once. 8 for 64 from Lance Klusner gave South Africa their first ever test match win on Indian soil, back on 1 December 1996 at Kolkata. Proteas had domintated that test match right from begining when Gary Kirsten and Andrew Hudson put up 236 runs opening stand and despite Venkatesh Prasad hurricane on second morning which limited visitors from 2 fo 346 to 428 allout, they managed a 99 run lead and second century of the match by Kirsten pasted solid 467 for Indians to chase or bat out nearly 5 sessions. Lance Klusner was wicketless in first innings but captain Hensie Cronje gave him the new ball and he dismissed makeshift opener Dinesh Mongia and Sourav Ganguly in evening and then ran through all remaining 6 wickets on Day 5. Lance Klusner and Mohammad Azharuddin had something between them that series, attacking each other on every meet and hyderabadi batter was the only one to stand Klusner kill that day, scoring 52 from 55 balls with 9 fours. Lance Klusner, interestingly, bowled 18 no balls in this match which tell us he was really running in. Best bowling performance by an Indian bowler in a test match against South Africa belongs to Venkatesh Prasad for his 5 wickets in each innings of Durban test (which although India lost by 328 runs) while Harbhajan Singh holds the innings record with his 7 for 87 at Kolkata.
