Intruder grabbed Khalid Latif, raising concerns at Aussie cricket grounds for second year in row. 0/2 or 2/0 as the Aussies like to read scores, is a nightmare start for any team specially after electing to bat and that's exactly how Pakistan began today, yet made a match out of it..

7 defeats in 7 games so far on Aussie tour, visitors made a huge change today by dropping captain Mohammad Yousuf and allowing Shahid Afridi to take control. Afridi, attacking as always, took aggressive decision of batting first but by the end of mandatory power plays (10 ovs), Younus Khan had joined openers back into the pavilion and young Umar Akmal was left with Shoaib Mallik to crawl their team back into the game. 60 off 94 balls, 4th wicket partnership had just started to flourish when Mitchell Johnson atheletically ran in his follow through and broke stumps with an uderarm throw to end Mallik's afternoon.

Umar Akmal found Fawad Alam willing to scratch it out and another 82 runs were added off next 15.3 overs, Pakistan 150 for 5 in 40th over and it was time to accelerate. Akmal lofted Clint McKay for a huge six over midwicket and then punched hard over covers for a couple but that crucial single didn't come which would have given the youngster's rush of blood a breather at non-striking end. Akmal cross batted 4th delivery and was castled. Fawad Alam continued his good work despite no tailender sticking it out with him for the exception of Rao Iftikhar Anjum who, after being hit on helmet grill, timed a low six over fine leg and found two fours in powerplays to push Pakistan past 200 run mark.

Australian pursuit of 213 started steadily until Brad Haddin tried to break free off accurate bowling from Mohammad Asif and banana outswing from Rana Naved ul Hasan and was caught easily at point. Ricky Ponting kept home team afloat with a half century as Shaun Marsh and Cameron White departed from other end but Shoaib pulled out rabbit off his hat by dismissing Ponting and Adam Voges in three overs while captain Shahid Afridi claimed James Hopes at slips to reduce Australia to 150 for 6 in the 40th over.

Michael Hussey, tactically put below the order by Aussie think tank for these kinds of pressure situations, guided Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Hauritz and Ryan Harris to earn his country their 8th consecutive one day match victory.

The scores

Pakistan (elected to bat) 212 allout in 49.3 overs
U Akmal 67, F Alam 63, C McKay 4/35, R Harris 3/44.
Australia (target 213) 213 for 8 wkts in 49.2 overs
R Ponting 55, M Hussey 40*, Afridi 2/31, Mallik 2/48.
Full scorecard : Aus v Pak, 5th ODI, Perth, 31/1/2010.

Series results

4th ODI, Perth : Australia won by 135 runs.
3rd ODI, Adelaide : Australia won by 40 runs.
2nd ODI, Sydney : Australia won by 140 runs.
1st ODI, Brisbane : Australia won by 5 wkts.

TV replays showed Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi biting/tempering the ball, which he claimed was just smelling!

Shahid Afrid banned

from two t20 games with imidiate effect after being found biting the ball late hours of this match. Also, an intruder went on to grab Pakistan player Khalid Latif, raising questions on Australian security after another incidence had happened last year when Andrew Symonds hit the intruder approaching past him.

5-0 whitewash

in an ODI series has been done by Australia now 3 times. Previously, Australians had beaten New Zealand in New Zealand in year 2004 as well as West Indies in Indies in 2008. As for Pakistan, this was the second time that they lost all games of an ODI series vs Australia after they were defeated 0-3 in 1998 ODI series at home.
