West Indies squad for 5 one day match series in Australia this february 2010 will be captained by Chris Gayle and vice-captain will be Dwayne Bravo, two cricketers who were part of test series earlier as well as the inagural T20 Big Bash, playing for Western Australia and Victoria respectively. Note that Denesh Ramdin has been stripped off his vice captainship following bad run of form with bat and he'll continue as only wicket keeper in the team.Another player involved in Big Bash tournament last month is Keiron Pollard, the right handed tall allrounder who can score big hits lower down the order, bowls useful medium pace and fields atheletically. Gayle, Bravo and Pollard will be aware of Aussie conditions in and out now and should play a povital role for visitors, specially in the absense of experienced Shivnarine Chanderpual and Ramnaresh Sarwan who couldn't make upto this tour because of finger and back injuries respectively. West Indies selectors, knowing their team has hard hitting batsmen to utilize batting and bowling powerplays, have formed a young middle order of batters who like to scratch it out in the middle and absorb overs.. Lendl Simmons was a part of Caribbean under-19 team and performed well with bat and in field against Indians last July as well as bowled smart medium pace, while Runako Morton and Trawin Dowlin are similar sort of compact players as is Brendan Nash, the left hander who played domestic cricket in Australia in his younger days and batted confidently in test series couple of months ago which West Indies lost 2-0. Narsingh Deonarine impressed with his left handed batting and spin bowling in only test he played in earlier part of the tour and he'll be an option for team management to use tactically. Devon Smith, the tiny left handed opener, will beging innings for visitors with captain Chris Gayle. West Indies have a depleated pace attack of 3, all right handed, and 2 of them very young. Kemar Roach was the find of test series, impressing one and all with his pace and accuray at the same time while Gavin Tonge is tall and pin pointed. Ravi Rampaul has been around West Indies squad for a while now and knows his craft with new and old ball. Darren Sammy is the player to watch out for, someone who is extremely competitive, can bat or bowl or field. Sammy is believed to be the best allrounder back in his native island St Lucia. Nikita Miller is the only spinner in west indies squad, a left arm orthodox one in the absense of Suliman Benn who was handed over a ban of 3 ODI by match referee at the end of last test match at Perth.
