Indian test squad for South Africa series 'refreshed', thanks to injuries.Filed under

As he says he's been blessed with a good body, MS Dhoni will neglect his back spasm and continue to lead India in two test match series against South Africa at home this February 2010 and mind you Proteas fans, Indian wicket keeper batsman is unbeaten as captain till date..Good news for Indian cricket fans is that they may finally see a roaring fast bowler after a long long time, Abhimanyu Mithun, if given an opportunity in eleven. 20 year old Karnataka speedster is the fastest bowler currently in Indian domestic arena and was highest wicket taker in recently concluded 2009-10 Ranji season, nearly pulling out a miraculous victory against Mumbai in final. Capable to generate pace close to 145kmph, consistantly if given the conditions, Mithun's attitute towards opposition batsmen is something to admire for cause he's always at their nose, wanting to heart'em if not get'em out. Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh, jaw fracture and left wrist problems respectively, will watch their mates play on television, at least in first test at Nagpur if not both until selectors draft them in for second test at kolkata. Probabliest of Rahul 'the wall' Dravid coming back is more than Yuvraj who hasn't performed as desired. Wriddhiman Saha, the Bengal and Kolkata Knight riders wicket keeper, is second new face in 15 member Indian test squad for South Africa series. Dinesh Karthik dropped few catches and now Indian selectors have dropped him for Saha who's a clean gloveman and bats according to situation. MS Dhoni is the first choice keeper and Saha will be as back up. Subramaniam Badrinath, a clone of Rahul Dravid but an even elegant one, was a part of Indian test teams for whole last year but didn't get too many opportunity until he was ignored from Bangladesh tour last month. Now, with quite a few batting slots opening up, Badrinath is back into the mix after good decade of high scoring first class career. VVS Laxman missed second test in Bangladesh due to cut in fingers caused while taking a catch in slip in first test, is back and will play a povital role in middle order with seasoned Sachin Tendulkar. Murali Vijay, although an opener, will continue to contest for a middle order spot as Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag are certain to open. Zaheer Khan will lead India's pace attack with rejuvenated Ishant Sharma and in backup will be rookies Abhimanyu Mithun and Sudeep Tyagi. S Sreesanth misses out due to hamstring injury he sustained duing Bangladesh tour. Harbhajan Singh will lead the spin department with fairly experienced leggy Amit Mishra and left arm orthodox Pragyan Ojha.
