India Innings : started slowly with Sachin and Sehwag taking their time as it was a day game and early morning start had little bit for new ball bowlers. But as soon as moisture vaporised, balls started flying out of ground consistently. Virendra Sehwag looked good for first ODI double century but he failed. India suffered a middle order collapse after MS Dhoni's half century but little cameros from Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja took India past 400 run mark, the 5th highest ODI score by any team.

Sri Lanka innings : matched stroke per stroke to India, and even exceeded it at times. Tillakaratane Dilshan's 26th highest score by a batsman and Kumar Sangakkara's near fastest century by a Sri Lankan batsman won visitors a miracle but it wasn't to be as Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra held their nerve in last overs.
