Mohammad Ashraful, considered best Bangladesh batsman yet, was only 17 year and 61 day old when he made his test match debut against Sri Lanka at Sinhalese Sports club ground in probably the only test champion ever played (The Asian cup between India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh). Inserted in to bat first, minnows Bangladesh were allout for just 90 in their first innings and gave away mamoth 465 run lead. Staring straight towards a huge defeat, debutant Mohammad Ashraful unleashed a lion hearted performance with a 114 run innings from 212 balls with 16 hits to baundary.
Ashraful's performance couldn't save Bangla team from a innings & 137 run loss but he sure made his debut a dream come true.
