Sri Lanka squad for 3 test match series against Pakistan, July 2009.

Will Tillakaratane Dilshan be able to switch his T20 form into test match form! When a batsman quits captainship, either he fades away or he becomes a leathal weapon for opposition. Mahela Jayawardene said bye bye to leadership 3 months ago and since then, he performed very well for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2009 before getting injured and then played more than one crucial innings in World T20 tournament.

Now it's time for test matches. and Mahela Jayawardene loves them. A classical batsman, Jayawardene will be number 1 thorn in Pakistani flesh as they begin their tour of Sri Lanka with 3 test match series.

Sri Lankan test squad also includes Angelo Mathews, who made quite an impression in World T20 a month ago, with bat and ball both.

Kaushal Silva, 23 year old youngster has been included in the squad in place of injured test wicket keeper Prasanna Jayawardene. Although captain Kumar Sangakkara if a full time wicket keeper, Lankan team have used him only as batsman in test cricket in the year gone by. Will Kaushal Silva make his debut to just remain a passenger to the squad will be interesting to see.

Malinda Warnapura and Tharanga Paranavitana make a comeback as test match openers while Thilan Samarweera, a glue like test match batsman, has been retained in the squad after back to back century in Pakistan in March this year.

Chamara Kapugedara, strongly built hard hitting right handed batsman, also finds his name in the team but he'll have to do more to break into Srilankan test match side. Tillakaratane Dilshan has had great couple of months, but those in T20 cricket. How his inovative batting suits to longest format of cricket will be another facinating aspect.

Chaminda Vaas, the vetern swing bowler, has been overlooked by Lankan selectors and hence, Thilan Thusara will handle the main seamers responsibilities along with Nuwan Kulasekara.

Muthiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis, the two spinning stalwarts of Sri Lankan cricket, were selected without a debate.
