Scorecard : Sri Lanka vs Australia, World T20, Match 8 : 8 June 2009

Jehan Mubarak, with captain Kumar Sangakkara, made sure Sri Lanka reach victory with any more hiccups! Match : Australia vs Sri Lanka, Match 2 of Group C of T20 World cup 2009.
Venue/Date : Trent Bridge ground in Nottingham in UK.. 8 June 2009.
Debuts : Isuru Udana and Angelo Mathews (both Sri Lankans).
Toss : Sri Lanka, elected to field.
Result : Sri Lanka won by 6 wickets.
Point table : Sri Lanka 2, West Indies 2 and Australia 0 (out of tournament).
Man of the match : Kumar Sangakkara.
Umpires : Ian Gould (England) + Billy Bowden (New Zealand).
Head to head : Second meeting. Sri Lanka and Australia are now locked 1-1.

Electing to field first, Sri Lankans kept it quite in first 6 overs of power plays and the Ajantha Mendis magic took over. Although only 3 wickets to his name in following scorecard, none of Australian batsmen played him with authority. Compratively, two other Srilankan bowling trump cards, Lasith Malinga and Muthiah Muralitharan were easily picked up by the batters.

Struggling their way to modest 159 batting first, Australian pace men failed to make early inroads into Lankan batting and Tillakaratane Dilshan blazed his way to a half century. Then, captain Kumar Sangakkara took it upon himself to see his team home. Few anxious moments towards the end, Jehan Mubarak's 2 sixes sealed the game for Sri Lankans.
