Netherlands, qualifiers from associates members of International council, surprised England, the host and an outside cup containders.

Electing to field first, Holland team showed how to field in a twenty20 international. Hardly any catches were dropped and few extra singles were conceeded. Resultant? England, who looked good for over 200 score once opener Ravi Bopara and Luke Wright got going, satisfy with just above par score of 162.

Tom de Grooth proved the hero of the day with his attractive batting in middle of the innings, but Darron Reekers, the bulky Holland opening batsman was another reason in todays underdog triump. Darron hit two big sixes at the start of innings, played only 13 balls for his 20 runs and installed hope into his team mates. Rest is history.
