Cricket
Nearly every sport is about doing "that thing" little better than your opposition... be it hitting some one's face, or putting a damn ball into the net, supported by three poles. Be it lifting the weight, or potting a ball. Cricket is a game about making more runs than opposition can. And in test cricket, you have to show 10 batsmen the way to the pavilion, twice. Many times, batsmen try to negotiate with negative play.. I mean not trying to make runs, just trying to survive. That's very much logical, as Draw is always an option..
And in every sport, you can out think the opposition, before outplaying them... and those who are able to do that, normally win. You can find many examples of it. And as I try to find such an example, with cricket, thinking, and test match, I think of Australia. Because of their better thinking of the game, they have made the standard of their first class cricket lot better than others, they rely on their strength (fast bowlers) to take 20 wickets when they come to the subcontinent (while other carry their dumb spinners). Today I came across a new way they seem to have found to dismiss a batsmen.. Today when Gibbs came out to bat, and knowing that he likes to take quick runs, Andrew Symonds deliberately pushed the ball a feet ahead of him, pretending to have miss fielded it. And then fired it back to the keeper. Although Gibbs managed to reach the crease, but Onlyyyyyyy Just. This certainly was a smart thinking.. they already have 491 in their bank and surely can buy a few wickets. No wonder why this team is always rewarded the honour of reviving the dying art of test cricket..Hats off to the best team, till date... Related ArticlesCricket
