PAKvAUS 4th ODI Abu Dhabi 2009
Pakistan has always been an unpredictable team. They win when all odds are against them and they most often lose when everything favours them.Starting Chapal Cup 2009 in spinning style, Pakistan bowlers have done their job remarkably well so far yet, their team is 2-1 down in the series. why? none of their batters have stayed long enough at the wicket to see the home. Younis Khan, the captain and easily the best batsman in Pakistani line-up, has played only 66 deliveries in his 3 innings while Misbah-ul-Haq has found a way to get out every single time he looked set for an innings of authority. Shahzad Ahmed, the 17 year old youngster, showed good range of shots in 3rd one day international but against an Aussie team which is brilliant in building pressure, rookie failed to make a dream start to his career. Salman Butt, Shoaib Mallik, wicket keeper Kamran Akmal and even all rounder Shahid Afridi who has had terrible two years with bat has shown good form but no sense of responsibility. Australians, on other hand, are now on bit of a roll. Habituated to play on fast tracks, Aussie team has been superb in eating up their quota of overs while batting and putting up just enough amount of runs on board their bowlers could defend. So far in this Chapal Cup 5 ODI series, run making has been easiest against the new ball while as the ball goes old, neither Dubai pitch or Abu Dhabi pitch has allowed batters to time the ball. 2-1 down in the series, Pakistan now find themselves in do or die situation to keep the series alive.
