India vs New Zealand : 25th February 2009 : AMI Stadium in Christchurch :- India batted first and hit 13 sixes in their innings. lack of middle order consolidation meant Indians finished with moderate 162/8 which Kiwis chased down.. with 7 wickets standing, and 7 balls remaining.. hitting 11 sixes. The batsmen contributing to this record were : Suresh Raina = 5, Virendra Sehwag = 4, Rohit Sharma = 1, Yusuf Pathan = 3, Brendon McCullum = 3, Martin Guptill = 3, Toss Taylor = 3 and Jacob Oram = 2 sixes apiece. 24 sixes in 40 overs.. not enough! You can see above was a relatively low scoring game compared to matches were teams set target of over 200 and yet lose.
