| Test Matches |
MS Dhoni made his test debut against Sri Lanka in Chennai, in December 2005. He soon cemented his place in the test team by scoring a memorable 148 against Pakistan when the team was in deep trouble. His battle against an in form Shoaib Akhtar was a treat to watch. That innings spoke volumes about the mental strength and temperament of MS. He is not the most technical batsman in the world, but he surely gets the job done. Dhoni got the test captaincy when Anil Kumble decided to hang his boots in late 2008. |
| ODI Matches |
Currently one of the best ODI players, he was also at the top of the ICC rankings in 2009-2010. His ability to maneuver the ball in the middle over’s and to finish games makes him very valuable player in this format. He broke Adam Gilchrist’s record for the highest ODI score by a wicket keeper when he smashed 183 against Sri Lanka at Jaipur in 2005-06. |
| T20 |
Dhoni’s t20 career got off to a dream start when he captained India to glory in the inaugural edition of ICC’s world t20 in Africa, in September 2007! But after that he has failed to live up to the expectations in this particular format both as batsman and as a captain. |
