According to latest Forbes list, India’s captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the richest cricketer and the 31st richest sportsperson/athlete in the world..
His total earnings of $26.5 million, $23 million of that from endorsements, Dhoni has made significantly more dough than other big names including tennis ace Novak Djokovic, the fastest man on the planet Usain Bolt, footballers Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres and also his team-mate Sachin Tendulkar. Interestingly, Dhoni earns more in endorsements than the world’s most popular footballer Lionel Messi.
This is some feat for the Indian skipper, who made almost $8 million more than cricket’s greatest, Tendulkar.
The latest release by Forbes Magazine puts boxing champion Floyd Mayweather on the #1 spot with total earnings of a whopping $85 million, leaving behind Philippine boxer Manny Pacquiao ($62 million) by quite a distance.
Golfing legend Tiger Woods is third with $59.4 million, basketball player Lebron James in 4th ($53 million) and Roger Federer in 5th, with $52.7 million.
Maria Sharapova is the richest among women in 26th place, having made a total of $27.9 million. David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo are the two footballers in the top 10.
