Will UDRS apply in world cup 2011?
Asked by: Nicky on 30-11-2010..
Fan Answer
BinitAlmost yes. ICC is under pressure from Aussie, English, Lankan and African counter parts to install the technology for upcoming tournament but I say almost cause this hasn't been made mandatory yet. Within next month, ICC should come up with public announcement whether UDRS will be used in world cup 2011 or not.

Indian board is very reluctant of using UDRS, and haven't accepted any offer in any of last few series, probably because all those host broadcasters didn't have hot spot technology. Now ICC's broadcasters = ESPN star, don't have hot spot technology either, which is vital when TV umpires sustain or over-rule a decision on field.

I'm looking forward to what happens next..
BinitIt's comfirmed now. Umpire decision review system will be used from second stage of ICC world cup 2011. This system won't be applied in group stages because of logistic problems to official broadcasters ESPN-Star but in super 8s stage, quater final, semi-final and final, UDRS will be used.
sachinYes UDRS will be used in the world cup! each team has two challenges per innings and it's the right way to go about it.
BinitAll of you who hate Indian team for not agreeing to UDRS, here's a breaking news for you ~ Hot spot will not be part of World cup in which UDRS will be used from quater final onwards. Now, we all know Hot spot is essential when it comes to UDRS but since Australian company who's made it (BBG sport) don't want to share it with the world, it's correct from Indian perpective to resist it. Hot spot is only available to Channel 9 and Sky sports while Nimbus, Taj TV and Supersport are three other major broadcaster without it.. why use half the technology? either use it full or don't at all.

Fact : The Hot Spot infrared cameras form part of military hardware used in jetfighters, tanks and warships, and they fall under the category of restricted equipment which needs a temporary export licence from the Australian Defence Department whenever they are taken out of the country. Part of that licence includes the return of the cameras to Australia within a seven-day period after the end of the event in which they are being used.

Whatever. Use decision review system as same all over the world or don't use it at all..
KIRAN KUMARNo, I dont think its a good move in international cricket by ICC. For instance if a batsmen got Bowled or got LBW , at present First he will calls for UDRS to watch whether it is first no ball or not. It is the field umpires duty whether bowler has overstepped or not? If he gives the decision then what is the use of the field umpire? We cant depend on UDRS to whether the batsmen has got Lbw? Because the hawkeye is watching from far away if all decision given by Hawk eye test match will ends in a 2days or in ODIS IT will ends in 25 overs! UDRS or Third umpire technology used only in run outs, stumping and only in close catching.
Prasad patilYes kiran i agree with ur statement, it is duty of field umpire that frontfut no ball or lbw.
