Answer
Binit
There have been four batsmen who faced more than 100 balls in their innings but were out or remained unbeaten for less than single figure score. This case usually happens when a lower order batsman (tailenders as we name them) bats out to absorb the time while his mate at other end does whatever scoring that's possible, or draw the match. here's the list..
Most balls faced for single digit score in tests
:
9 runs, 102 balls = Carl Rackemann, Aus v Eng, January 1991.
7 runs, 101 balls = Geoff Miller, Eng v Aus, December 1978.
8 runs, 101 balls = Tony Dodemaide, Aus v Pak, September 1988.
3* runs, 100 balls = John Murray, Eng v Aus, January 1963.
9 runs, 98 balls = Roger Harper, WI v Pakistan, November 1986.
9* runs, 97 balls = John Snow, Eng v WI, June 1969.
Most balls faced for single figure score in ODI
:
8 runs, 72 balls = Rashid Latif, Pak v WI, 17 December 1992.
4 runs, 62 balls = Rizwan-ul-Zaman, Pak v WI, November 1986.
7 runs, 61 balls = Kevin Arnott, Zim v Pak, February 1992.
9 runs, 57 balls = Shoaib Mohammad, Pak v Aus, 13 Feb 1990.
