Commented by Binit on 05 Jan, 2011Most wickets in an Ashes series has been taken by Jim Laker, during 1956 series in England, including world's best figures of 10 for 53 in an innings and 19 for 90 in a test match. Terry Alderman holds Aussie record with 42 wickets in 1981 Ashes series while Shane Warne is a name from recent times, although he too has retired now. here's a list of most wickets in an Ashes series over the years..

42 wkts = Terry Alderman (Aus), Ashes 1981, 6 tests, best = 9/130.
41 wkts = Rodney Hogg (Aus), Ashes 1978-79, 6 tests, best = 10/66.
41 wkts = Terry Alderman (Aus), Ashes 1989, 6 tests, best = 10/151.
40 wkts = Shane Warne (Australia), Ashes 2005, 5 tests, best = 12/246.
